The founding of TBN
Today it would be considered a classic start-up, but back then it was a simple
The company was founded in 1987 when Thomas Schäfer and Klaus Zimmer founded the Technical Office for
Communications Technology (TBN - "Technisches Büro für Nachrichtentechnik" in German)
Distribution of illuminated treadmills
After a year, Thomas Schäfer devoted himself full-time to the sale of illuminated treadmills
for advertising purposes. Thanks to his previous knowledge of OEM printers, he quickly succeeded,
to enter into cooperations with manufacturers such as Citizen. The business quickly expanded to
Peripherals for PC POS systems, including cash drawers, barcode scanners and customer displays,
which led to the first distribution contracts and attracted further sales partners.
ADASYS GmbH
In 1994, the company TBN was transformed into ADASYS GmbH, which at that time was already
had five employees.
Relocation and expansion
In the following years, the company moved to the new company building in Max-Planck-Strasse in Kornwestheim. There was finally enough space for an expanded warehouse and a larger service department. By the early 2000s, the number of employees had risen to over 20. At the same time, the number of direct imports, particularly from Taiwan, increased. ADASYS introduced one of the first touch-based POS systems in Germany.
Introduction of the 4POS brand
ADASYS GmbH registered the 4POS brand for the first time. This brand was to be a unique selling point for some of the products we imported ourselves.
Poindus partnership
From 2007 onwards, the cooperation with Poindus Systems from Taiwan developed excellently. Poindus launched the first frameless touch systems on the market, and ADASYS quickly became one of the largest sales partners in this area.
Takeover by Poindus
After a thirty-year journey through the company's history, a significant step was taken: ADASYS GmbH became the sole property of Poindus Systems Corp. Taiwan.
Compal takeover
March 2022 Takeover of the parent company Poindus by Compal, a major player in the electronics industry. Compal is one of the largest contract manufacturers of electronic devices in the world and plays a significant role in the global electronics industry. It works closely with various brands and clients to produce high-quality electronic products.
New Managing Director: Steven Ma
Former founder and Managing Director Thomas Schäfer handed over the reins to Steven Ma, who is to lead the company into a new era.
